How long will we have to stand in the queue?

Posted by Kapil Arambam on 6-December-2011

Sir, A sense of helplessness and confusion compelled me to write this letter. And seeing no immediate action from the authorities, I’d appreciate if you could push the issue up for some investigation and hopefully a way of solution. This is about petrol. Even after a week of economic blockade suspension, we have to stand in long queues for a couple of litres of petrol and while we are not in a waiting line, it is an eye-sore for the passers-by to see the four-, three- and two-wheelers, leave alone the traffic jams. This is something very grave but the evergreen Manipur predicament of having multiple problems all the time has made it just another issue that seemingly we can afford to ignore. Most unfortunately, the authorities’ nonchalance and our meek submission to these circumstances are too disturbing. We do not expect a positive solution overnight but it will do some good if you bring this issue to light sooner than later, or at least before the next blockade begin again. We trust you will not fail us. Impatiently, Kapil Arambam

For immediate Press Release Written by Pu A. Lenthang, Kumpi, as an Urgent Memorandum for the Kuki Inpi traditional administrations from village to national governance to preserve it at any cost address to the Prime Minister, Govt. of India, New Delhi, India It is learnt from reliable sources that the Winter Session Parliament is going to introduce a Panchaijati rule in Indian villages. If the rumuor is real and the Govt. of India is going to force the Bill to introduce to villages, the Kuki Inpi would like to inform the august House, (Parliament) that Kuki people everywhere have a democratically elected administration from village, District, State and upto the nation. This is in agreement of the ruling democratic Government of India. Brief outline of Kuki Administration – 1. The Kuki village Chief is heredity by virtue of being the Clan head. When the Chief died his eldest Son will inherit the Chiefship, the Chief’s main role is Judiciary. 2. The village Chief will call a meeting of all the villagers and the following traditional village Government leaders will be democratically elected by the villagers. (1) Semang - Incharge of Administration (2) Pachong - Incharge of (a) Defence, (b) Labour, (c) Training of youth (3) Lhangsam - Information, Publicity and Communication etc (4) Village Recorder – By appointment 3. All administration of the village is democracy, participated by all villagers. “Kut” is the budget session of the village administration by all the villagers. All houses of the village must be present in all the village meetings. What is resolved in the meeting is to be executed by the elected (1) Semang, (2) Pachong and (3) Lhangsam. This Government “Kuki Inpi” is the one fought bravely against the British invaders and saved the Ancestral land, we their descendants, including all tribal people in the North East still own the land. This administration must be preserved for peace. Important Points 1. The Kuki Chiefs are the custodians of our Ancestral Land/Village Land 2. The Kuki Chiefs are Hereditary by Tradition and Custom 3. The Kuki Chiefs are not autocratics and bounded by Traditions, Customs, and Culture etc. All decisions taken along with the members of the Village Authority. 4. What the Government of India proposed for the NSCN(I-M) as “Christmas Gift”and more are already in practice in the Kuki villages worldwide from time immemorial can never be given up. Any kind of move to destroy our traditional Government will be opposed with teeth and nail till death. Complain regarding news.

Posted by Mansingh Nepram on 10-October-2011

Sir/Mam, I would like to complain about a news which was published in the worst ever possible way. On dated 10-10-2011 your paper reported a case of a 23 year old girl getting raped by her telephone lover. The problem I have with the news is that the use of "teen" word was used as a headline and was even described in the news even though its clearly written that the girl was of 23 years. Such low standard mistake coming from a prominent newspaper of our society is not excusable. I really hope sir/mam would edit it again and publish it without any mistake. Thanking You, Mansingh Nepram Note: URL of the news : http://www.hueiyenlanpao.com/hueiyen-lanpao-news-paper.php?newsid=8971

Noted, a truly regretable mistake. Will take care such slip ups do not happen again.

TET =BABY, let the “BABY” grow up.

Posted by Wahengbam Bungo Singh on 8-October-2011

To, The editor Huiyen Lanpao Dear Sir, With due respect, my name is Wahengbam Bungo Singh. I was going through the article/report on SFI demands proper recruitment policy, which made me to write this letter. It would be great, if you published this as Letter to the Editor. My take on the above topic is given below: TET =BABY, let the “BABY” grow up. No doubt, with the old "GIVE LESS MARKS" policy had ruined life of thousands, resulting in quitting education; no job with complete rejection and dejection in life. Even, I am the victim of the old education policy. But, we have to move on rather than cursing our past. Now, things have turned to a new brighter side. The recent trend in teacher recruitment is found out to be a satisfied one and a turning point in the history of job recruitment. I have been told, how the candidate's marks were published in newspaper. Thanks to Our CM for his new policy. If given a chance, I would like to suggest our respected CM that depending on the standards (classes), the marks allocation should be done. If it's a graduate level recruitment, maximum marks should be taken from graduate’s score and TET and for PUC level recruitment, maximum marks from 12th score and TET. The TET exam conducted can be a deciding factor for SSA teacher's competency and recruitment’s eligibility. Because, having heard the gravity of its difficulty and pass percentage, definitely, 50% basis from the said exam (TET) without changing any tabulation as said by our CM on the declaration day of RMSA recruitment result, is a healthy welcome note for all who had undergone the said exam and even for those are selected in RMSA teacher's recruitment without any so called bribery or influences, would definitely agree. So, I would like to request to SFI, student body to let the “BABY” grow up to become the strong pillar of these power-shattered crumbling state. I have been a regular reader of your paper and would like to wish you to serve all forever. Thanks & Regards, Wahengbam Bungo Singh.

Short letter to Editor “HARDSHIP OF OUR LAND”

Posted by K.P@mson on 2-October-2011

HARDSHIP OF OUR LAND Gone are those many days of hardship over our Land Manipur, the reason behind the demand of Sadar Hill and Jiribam to be a District, I have been a salience spectator since the begin of this demand Time has come to express my tiny view to everyone, It’s good to have two more district in the ground of Development, but everyone want to protect their land kicking off the Development, when we looked back the feeling of every communities its good for the GOM and Centre to think positive the root cause of the Feeling. I would like to put up one fact explanation “In fact, the said Jiribam Sub-division is a part of Tamenglong District since the beginning, why the people of Jiribam hesitate to be a part of Tamenglong District? And whose community is not willing to be in Tamenglong District? In fact intellectual leaders of Meiteis have to think over it…” This kind of silly deeds makes the beginning of communal feeling over land. This is the nearest fact example that the youngster can understand in this regard.

All the people living in Manipur should think beyond the narrow confines of one community, that's the only way forward. But as things stand, it is as yet a tall order, but we should never stop trying

Funds

Posted by S Jeken Singh on 1-October-2011

Dear Editor, No one knows the stagnation of development in Manipur even myself. No sign of advancement in enterpreneur development, small scale industries even for production of a match box or a lighter which is very essential item in day to day survival. No improvement in roads widening for a easy transportation, no production unit/project for self help of the poor Manipuris, also utilisation of manpower to solve at least unemployment problems which ultimately bring todays scenarios of mass extortion practices by armed unlawful precious youths of Manipur suppose to be tomorrows pillars of Manipuri society. It's a heart rendering scenarios that we are experiences today. Last but not the least, where are the funds that the Centre Govt. of India pouring into Manipur for every five year plans? What are the plans that our Manipur Govt. has and where the funds gone? Funds in terms of multi-crores. It's very sad to ponder upon these matter, dear iditor. Plz. wake up, it's too late but still not sunset.

The situation is indeed grim and there doesn't seem to be any quick relief in sight. Meanwhile, the blame game continues, each blaming the other for the rot we see all around us.
